Aram Matthew Ohanian accepted the Judicial Appointment at the Governor’s office on December 27, 2018

Aram is a graduate of Greenhills High School in Ann Arbor Michigan and the Michigan State University, James Madison College with a degree in Social Science, Law and Democracy. He graduated with his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo and is admitted to the Ohio Bar and Michigan Bar and U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio.
He began his legal career as an intern in the Wood County Public Defender’s Office while he was in law school at the University of Toledo in 1992. At that time, he was assigned to the Perrysburg Municipal Court. Since graduating from law school and taking the bar, he has continually served in this court except for one year after law school. During that year, he served as a public defender in Canton, Ohio before returning to Perrysburg to continue his legal career. As a public defender, later a prosecutor in Fostoria with a private practice in Perrysburg, as a special prosecutor appointed for the Cities of Perrysburg, Rossford, Northwood, and Walbridge and for the past fifteen years as a prosecutor in the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office, he has handled many thousands of cases in the Perrysburg Municipal Court.

In addition to his legal service, he is very active in the community in organizations such as The Cocoon Shelter and Exchange Club, political organizations that support local, state and national candidates, and in committees and boards such as the Perrysburg Fire Department Strategic Plan Committee, the Perrysburg City Charter Review Committee and Perrysburg Board of Zoning Appeals.  In addition, Judge Ohanian has been a soccer coach starting at the YMCA and then the PYSA for both girls’ and boys’ soccer, a Junior Jackets basketball coach and a Boy Scouts Den leader and is currently a certified USSF Youth Soccer referee. 

Aram and his wife Sherina reside in Perrysburg with their 3 children Alisha, Keith and Kyle. He is a parishioner at St. Rose Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus of Perrysburg Council 7978.
